The Bible is a book. Nothing more. Some believe this book to be the literal word of God. Some believe it to be a work of fiction. I do not accept that the Bible is recorded history any more than I believe the Bhagavad Gita is. Or Alice in Wonderland for that matter.
No, you shouldn't assume I reject all recorded history. I evaluate recorded history using the evidence available, particularly independent contemporaneous evidence. In most cases, there's plenty of that.
Did the US Civil War happen? Almost certainly. There's a ton of evidence from different sources, found in different places. There are hundreds (perhaps thousands) of books and articles that were written at the time the war occurred, not a single book written hundreds of years later.
Did Atlantis exist? I don't know but probably not. There are a few books of apparent fiction saying it did, and no physical evidence. This said, there's more evidence of Atlantis having existed than there is of Jesus Christ having existed.
