Classical Music

Postby Gunda » Sat Sep 05, 2015 3:04 am

My favourite Bach piece. Two nice versions of it. The first with vocals and strings. The second a nice instrumental trumpet version.

P.S.: I exchanged the first (vocal and string version) with another one, which has less ugly pictures in it. In fact, the new one contains beautiful images. My favourite one is that with the dog overseeing a landscape of terraces.

I love it! Easily your best post ever about music. I love Brandenburg #3 but this is probably Bach's best imo. Personally I prefer the quicker tempo versions like this one.

I'm also into the less polished versions, like this one from a young Argentine group, Joven Orquesta del Club Argentino. I hear all the flaws, but they just make it better to me.

This piece is actually not from Beethoven as the title suggests, the music is only based on one of it´s compositions. Nevertheless, as only typical classical instruments are used, I post it in this category. It rather sounds like a movie soundtrack to me - but I love many music soundtracks and so I also like this. Plus, I like the video. Fits to the tune and the atmosphere.

No instrument is that noble and majestic like the piano. I love this instrumental version of my favourite piece by Bach. It is elevating.

I hated to go to church, which we actually mainly did because of my then still alive grandmother, which had nothing "exciting" in her life left except the church visit each sunday. Church visits only got nicer for me when my mom allowed me finally to go upstairs , where the church in my village had a few places to sit which were right beside the organ. I always tried to snatch the seat closest to the organ for that I am able to watch the players hands. Liked the music and the players performance, no matter which piece, hated the rest of the sermon. Nothing changed today and if I can´t dodge the church (which happens maybe two times a year) I still find myself upstairs near the organ.

It´s not the first time I heard Kalimbas (and I always liked them), but I never heard someone playing a classical piece. And these two Kalimba versions are my favourite ones. Beautiful beyond words. The first is slower, the second is faster. I love both, but prefer the second due to the faster tempi.

I love Aaron Copelands music, instrumental or the sung version. If sung, I prefer them interpreted by Thomas Hampson. For example Copelands piece "Simple Gifts":

Instrumental version:

With lyrics sungs by Thomas Hampson:
